I was born and raised in Nanjing, China. My dad was doing his Master’s degree in the US so I bounced between my grandparents in Nanjing and my other grandparents in Shanghai. Both sides of my family are made up of teachers and professors. My dad’s father spoke fluent French! I left China halfway through Grade 1. The feature image is Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, a historical site in Nanjing. I later visited it again with my husband when we were in our 20s.
